Our Mission and Purpose
Through the art of incense for both individuals and organizations, we inspire more people to live a mindful lifestyle and improve their well-being.
The convergence of Eastern and Western philosophies
The brand name "Neuma" is derived from ancient Greek word "Pneuma", meaning "breath", as well as "spirit," "soul," and "vitality." Aristotle believed that the inner pneuma is the origin of the soul. Interestingly, this concept aligns remarkably with the ancient and mysterious Chinese cultural concept of “Qi” , which is fundamental in Chinese culture. Could one imagine that thousands of years ago, Eastern and Western philosophies converged on this point?

This is one of the finest quality incense collections I've ever used. The gentle yet natural scents stand out from the artificial incenses even when I just smell the incense without burning it. I am eager to explore the other scents!

Frequent Q&A
How many types of incenses are in the market?
Based on different manufacturing techniques, incense on the market can generally be divided into synthetic and natural types. Synthetic incense is primarily made from various artificially synthesized fragrances or essential oils, and the overall cost is relatively low. Natural incense includes those made from natural essential oils, as well as those made from purely natural herbs and plants.
How to tell the quality of incenses?
The short yet very important answer is to feel it with your body, not by listening to what other people say. You don't have to be an expert in incense culture, your own nose is enough to make the judgment. If you want to learn more, we've written an article about this topic. Beginner's Guide: 4 quick technics to tell the quality of incenses.
What are the benefits of using natural incenses?
Using natural incense offers many enhancements to your environment and well-being. It can harmonize the energy of a space according to Chinese Feng Shui and Yin-Yang balance, enhancing positivity and attracting good fortune. Its aroma interacts with your brain to stimulate memory and emotional balance, inducing relaxation. What's more, traditional Chinese medicine believes that natural incense nurtures Qi, and calms the mind. Check the benefits of using natural incense.
What kind of ingredients does Neuma use for its incenses?
Neuma only uses high quality oriental aromatic herbs for its products, for example agarwood, sandalwood, cedar etc. In the product description, we listed the main ingredients in each aroma. Following the Chinese incense culture's concept of "incense and medicine sharing the same origin,” we carefully select aromatic herbs in harmony with the seasons and employ traditional Chinese medicine theories to make each single product.
Where is Neuma incense sourced from?
We have a dedicated product team in China who design and develop our unique scents. At the same time, we collaborate with three incense masters, each possessing more than 20 years of professional experience, carrying forward the intangible art of incense craftsmanship in China.
How environmentally friendly are your products? Can you share some practices?
Being environmentally responsible forms the fundamental ethos of our brand, seamlessly integrated right from the first day of product design. Following the 3R principle - reduce, reuse, recycle, we aim to minimize packaging waste while ensuring aesthetics and functionality.
